Wine from South Africa has always been popular in the Netherlands. With the end of apartheid, however, things moved quickly and we have now become one of the largest importers of wines from this beautiful wine country. This is, of course, not surprising since the Netherlands has a historical connection with South Africa, dating back to the times of Jan van Riebeek: he was the first to plant vineyards! So with these wines, you are giving a wine gift with history! We give you the choice between two typical grapes from the country: - Steen ('Stone - Chenin Blanc), white: a grape variety that is relatively common in ZA and has therefore been `adopted` as the national white grape variety. Characteristics: fresh and soft taste with soft acids and a long aftertaste, a real aperitif wine! - Pinotage, the red grape variety of the country. It is a variety that was developed by crossing two French grapes: Pinot Noir and Cinsault. It produces powerful, full-bodied wines, real connoisseurs' wines!
