Description

A delicious white wine, indeed, the house wine of our Vinologist Wouter!

Bacalhôa, Wines of Portugal exists since 1922 and was formerly known under the name JP Vinhos, derived from the then owner João Pires & Filhos. With the merger of several companies and brands, the company’s name was recently changed to Bacalhôa, Wines of Portugal, named after the beautiful palace in Setúbal, part of its historical heritage.

This wine is produced from grapes from Península of Setúbal. The two local grapes Fernão Pires & Arinto (± 70%) grow on sandy soil and Chardonnay (30%) on more calcareous slate soil, near the Arrábida mountains. A continuous sea breeze blows over the vineyards and the slightly salty taste can be found in the wine. The two Portuguese grape varieties are fermented in stainless steel tanks and the Chardonnay in new oak barrels.

Do not serve too cold: serve at 12 to 15°C. The smell is very fresh and aromatic with tropical fruit and light vanilla tones. Fresh dry, pleasantly mineral and a little salty. Rich in taste with very subtle wood influences and a complex aftertaste. Nice length. A delicious glass of wine, enjoy!
