Domaine des Lauriers – Picpoul de Pinet ‘Prestige

Award winning Picpoul de Pinet: 3 stars in Guide Hachette & Coup de Coeur!

Vivino 3,7 (****)

The village of Pinet is located between Pezenas and Agde, on the Bassin de Thau, in the south of France. The village has been known since a very long time for its white wine made from the Picpoul grape.
After a lot of lobbying, in 1985 they obtained the coveted Appellation Controlée status: A.C. Coteaux du Languedoc, Picpoul de Pinet.
Domaine des Lauriers is a relatively small producer of about 30 hectares, where wine maker Marc Cabrol is in charge. Proof of his craftsmanship are the regular inclusions of the Domaine in the authoritative French Guide Hachette.

Besides this delicious Picpoul, they make a variety of other wines, such as the white Pays d’Oc from Viognier and Chardonnay. Also worth discovering! And the white Cuvée Baptiste of Picpoul & Vermentino (Languedoc) and the red Cuvée Guillaume of Grenache and Syrah (Pays d’Oc) as well.

Picpoul de Pinet, the ultimate spring and summer wine, but also delicious in the other seasons: light yellow in colour, deliciously fresh-smelling and with a flavour that also has a lot to offer: beautifully dry, full-fruited, a bit rancid and with a pleasant plumpness. It is a wine that goes well with seafood, oysters, mussels and many white fish dishes.

The name of the wine is a combination of the grape (Picpoul) and the village where the wine is made (Pinet). The wine is bottled (with screw cap to keep the wine ‘fresh’) in the characteristic bottle of the region with the waves all around and the ‘Croix Occitane’, the Cross of Languedoc.
