Description
Delicious rosé made from various grape varieties: Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. Vignobles Guiessard is young company founded by Pauline and Clément. She learned the trade in Vacqueyras, among other places. He worked for years at the famous Domaine Tempier in Bandol. Now they run this domaine together in Bandol, which grows in reputation every year. They make red wine and rosé under that commune’s AOP, but also own vineyards with an AOP Côtes de Provence and this is a delicious example of that.
The rosé has, how could it be otherwise, a beautiful light pink ‘Provencal’ colour. Obtained by a short maceration of a part of the grapes and light pressing of the other part. This pressing has to be done in a gentle way: the more pressure you put on the grapes, the more colour you ‘squeeze out’. And a too dark colour is what they want to avoid.
The smell of the wine is appealing with soft citrus tones. The taste, despite the light colour, is full and juicy with fresh acids in the aftertaste. A delicious rosé for on the terrace, but tasty enough to also drink at the table, with a bouillabaisse for example.
